PAPER: People Against Persecuting Erotic Rights
While PAPER holds that sex is ultimately an undefeatable force of nature, we also recognize that sex rights are often under attack. PAPER believes that sex is not inherently dirty, immoral, or exploitative, and neither are sex industries. We hold that sexuality exists on a spectrum, that anything should go between consenting adults, and that everyone has the right to be informed about sex and sexual health. We are pro-choice, education-focused, feminist-inclined, secular, inclusive, and above all, pragmatic.
Based in Kentuckiana, PAPER was first formed in 2009 as a reaction to another local group. Said group, Reclaim Our Culture Kentuckiana (ROCK), has worked for years now to remove and demonize adult stores and entertainment from the Louisville area, among other projects. PAPER vehemently opposes the idea that sex and expressions of sexuality are dangerous for families and communities, contending instead that sex-negativity is far more damaging.
